Our team are based in beautifully converted barns in the countryside, just outside of Oxford. WMP was founded in 1984, with Product design added as a service area in 2010. The team have built up a range of client relationships across a wide spectrum of exciting product categories, from adventure sports products, to medical devices.

WMP Product Design helps companies design and develop more meaningful consumer experiences for everyday life.

The product design team at WMP has a wealth of experience in developing award-winning products for international brands, encompassing premium consumer products, consumer electronics, telecoms, audio and consumer medical products.

We believe that brand, user interface and product design are inextricably linked and are essential elements in achieving commercial success. Our team can therefore call on the expertise of our UX designers and developers, to ensure that the appropriate expertise is deployed, in a tailored approach.

WMP are looking for a Mid-Level designer with a desire to learn and grow in a vibrant team. You might be a recent graduate, keen to break into the agency world, or perhaps you’re a few years into your career.

You’ll have a great eye for design, a keen interest in qualitative user research, and a solid grounding in CAD modelling, as well as being able to demonstrate exceptional creative thinking and problem-solving.

The Role

• Working on client projects in a very wide range of sectors from consumer to industrial.

• You will grow to lead projects under the supervision of the senior team.

• Work across both, hardware and digital UX projects.

• Taking projects from initial research all the way through to prototyping and mass manufacture stages.

• Define strategic product design languages and aesthetic directions that make the product, unique, and recognisable, but most importantly speak to brand values and the unmet needs of end customers.

• Liaising with internal teams and clients to deliver the product vision.

• Create product design documentation and collaborate with customer and 3rd party engineering teams during the development

The Person

• Ideally 3+ years of professional industrial design experience

• Demonstrated empathy and experience in user research with insight and opportunity identification

• A strong creative problem solver.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks.

• Proficiency in Keyshot

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

• Competent sketching, form creation

• A keen interest in observational user research and uncovering user pain points and insights.

• Solid communication skills and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and visual presentation and storytelling abilities.

• A strong team player, helpful, conscientious and collaborative.

• Able to manage time effectively and work to deadlines.

• Available for a long-term position.

• A fun and positive attitude.

• Strong passion for sustainability in product design that minimises impacts on the environment, and encourages new and more sustainable behaviour

Salary

A salary is dependent on experience, however the salary for this position is likely to be anywhere from £30,000 - £40,000.

Remote Working

You will work two days a week in WMP’s studio in Tubney, Oxfordshire.

There is flexibility on early or starts - as well as remote working for the 3 days.

Interview Process

The interview process for this position is likely to be two-stages. An initial virtual call with the Design Director followed by a meeting in WMP’s offices in Tubney.
