Founded in 2001, Innovate Product Design provide a complete service from patent search, protecting your product, through design and prototyping, to advice on marketing and the patent office with a team full of experience in all areas of IP, product design and manufacture.

A design studio you have seen on BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’, Innovate helps inventors and start-ups from the UK, Europe & the US to develop a wide variety of product ideas including consumer products, electronic products and sustainable products.

Innovate are looking for a Junior Product Designer to join their Salisbury design studio, supported by a team lead.

At Innovate, you will work directly with clients to develop product ideas from initial concept to prototyping, manufacturing development, and all the way to a successful launch.

You will consider the product’s customer, functionality, and manufacturing costs to create solutions with a strong product-market fit.

This position is ideal for an individual early on in their design career. Innovate has a young, diverse team and your role within that will become an important part of helping Innovate create incredible products and experiences for their clients.

You

  • Curiosity about how things work and how they are made

  • Strong desire to improve your design skills and learn the best new ways to develop product.

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding, metal fabrication and rapid prototyping.

  • Understanding of materials, particularly plastics, metals and woods.

  • Experience making functional prototypes (electronics a bonus)

  • Strong 3D modelling, ideally with Solidworks

  • Comfortable in rendering with Keyshot

  • Assured in Photoshop, inDesign and other Adobe software packages.

Salary

The salary for this position is £20,000 - £24,000 dependent on experience.

Remote Working

You have the opportunity to work remotely over time, but initially this role will be in the office.

Interview Process

The interview process for this position is likely to be two-stages.

An initial virtual call with the Design Director followed by a meeting in Innovate’s offices in Salisbury.
