We're on the lookout for a creative and motivated Junior Furniture Designer to join our team and bring fresh ideas to the table.  Strong visual communication, an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset, and an eagerness for continuous self-improvement are all traits we value in potential team members. As part of our design team, you'll have the chance to work on a diverse range of projects, from generating and crafting new concepts to creating captivating design presentations and marketing images, whilst collaborating with our teams in the UK and Vietnam. And with mentorship from seasoned designers, this is your chance to take your skills to the next level and make your mark in the industry.

You'll have regular interaction and collaboration with our development team in Vietnam who will bring your ideas to life. As part of your onboarding journey, you'll embark on an extended trip to Vietnam to immerse yourself in the construction methods, materials and finishes of the wide array of factories we partner with. Additionally, get ready to be inspired as you accompany us to international furniture fairs each year.

The Role:

  • Participate in all stages of the design process, from concept development to final production.

  • Utilize creativity and technical skills to bring ideas to life through sketches, CAD modelling, 3D renderings, and other forms of visualization.

  • Collaborate with our teams in the UK and Vietnam to develop innovative furniture designs that delight and meet the needs of our clients.

  • Create clear, impactful, and engaging presentations to convey ideas to clients and development teams. In time, there will be opportunities to interact with clients.

  • Research and constantly build up knowledge of the furniture market, trends, new materials/finishes, and manufacturing techniques to inform the design process.

  • Collaborate and partner with external freelance designers and CGI artists – creating briefs and giving feedback.

  • Support the design team with various other tasks such as:

    • Website creation/updates

    • Brochure creation/updates

    • Protecting and registering our designs with ACID.

    • Proof-reading assembly guides

Skills:

  • Possesses a strong aptitude for generating imaginative, distinctive, well-balanced, and commercially-driven designs that seamlessly blend creativity with manufacturability. Has a knack for conveying these concepts in a visually engaging and realistic manner.

  • Clear communication (visual, spoken, written) is key to working in a fast-paced environment and in a trusting team – it’s critical that you’re a good communicator in all forms.

  • Able to manage time effectively and work to deadlines.

  • Strong at 3D modelling in Solidworks

  • Skilled at rendering with Keyshot

  • Assured in Photoshop, InDesign, and other Adobe software packages.

  • Good understanding of materials; particularly wood, metal, and glass

  • Ability to work with existing and create efficient working processes/systems that allow for slick collaboration and communication with the rest of the team.

Key Details:

  • Location: Peterborough, UK

  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Remote Working: Initially, we'll need you in the office five days a week, but as we grow, so do the opportunities for remote work—up to two days a week.

  • Salary: £20,000 - £24,000, depending on experience.


Interview Process:

This recruitment process will begin with an initial video call with Senior Design Manager (Ollie). If you progress, we’d ask for you to visit our office in Peterborough for a face-to-face interview, skills task, and to meet the team.
