Puttshack: Industrial Designer

applications to hello@designtruth.co.uk

Where Tiger meets tech, Puttshack is an upscale, tech-infused mini golf experience that appeals to everyone.

Leaning on its ground-breaking technology to elevate the game – combined with Design Truth approved vibes in a cool environment – Puttshack has taken what some of us see as a British seaside holiday tradition of minigolf and wrapped it into the 21st century.

Creating fun experiences where first dates lead to a second, families carve memories and friends reconnect is really at the core of why Puttshack is a unique spot to work in as many lose joy with the world around us.

Keeping (amateur) golfers entertained since 2018, Puttshack has a robust pipeline of expansion both here in the UK & US with a recent $150m fundraise, with technology sitting as a key component to continuing growth.

Your role as an Industrial Designer is to work closely with the design team in conceptualising new innovations within the mini golf world.

Taking projects from start to finish, you will work on initial concept development through to hands-on functional prototype & product testing - creating all necessary design and production drawings, alongside supporting documentation related to projects. Treat this as a very hands-on design / product development position where you really will grasp industrial design, design for manufacturing, production.

A significant part of the role will be Solidworks CAD modelling - (multiple part assembly, configurations, drawings).

When you think about how a Puttshack golf hole is brought to life, you really have to think about the different materials and processes that you are going to be exposed to – whether that be timber, plastic and metal production.

Whilst a portfolio can demonstrate flair, what is important is this combination of fun (your personality, creativity) combined with function (pragmatism, execution) - Puttshack will want to see strong aesthetics but it’s important to note there has to be an appreciation for mechanisms, components, structural design.

There is complexity, innovation, technology … and a pretty impressive staff discount.

Puttshack is also looking for a Junior Design Engineer to join the business, as well as this Industrial Design hire.

Salary

Puttshack is looking to pay £33,000 - £36,000 for this industrial design hire.

A minimum of 2 years experience is required.

Remote Working

This position is predominantly remote working, but you will need to be accessible to Corby (Northamptonshire) which is where Puttshack’s development centre is based.

Interview Process

This recruitment process will begin with an initial virtual conversation with head of the design team at Puttshack.

An amazing opportunity for you to understand the company and the people within it in more detail.

You will then be asked for a more technical interview, and you will be expected to be able to talk through your portfolio in depth.

Please have a portfolio that features process just as much as shiny renders & glossy imagery.
